Tobin Data Extends Lease Activity to Bakken Shale Play
11/20/2013Operators can now see where lease activity is taking place before making critical business decisions
Identifying the hottest leasing areas within the oil-rich Bakken shale play just got a whole lot easier.
P2 Energy Solutions’ Tobin Data team has generated and published 2,615 Lease Activity points throughout six counties within the Bakken formation. These points, which can be accessed via Tobin Online, give operators access to the most accurate and current leasing information available so they can make the best leasing decisions possible. Our Tobin Data team makes in-person visits to courthouses to independently collect the necessary information from pull-off sheets. Once it is entered into Tobin Online, the data is updated daily.
The six counties covered are:
- Billings
- Bottineau
- Dunn
- McLean
- Renville
- Slope
But the story doesn’t end here. By March 2014, our Tobin Data team plans to have Lease Activity information—more than 26,000 additional data points—available in 14 other counties within the Bakken. Because of this formation’s significance to the oil and gas industry, generating and publishing these Lease Activity points has been a top priority for our Tobin Data team. The Bakken, which covers 200,000 square miles of Montana, North Dakota, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, is estimated to hold a whopping 4.3 billion barrels of oil.
Knowing where lease activity is taking place is the first step in getting that oil out of the ground.
