ASCEND 2016: P2 Welcomes Crowd of More Than 450, Makes Series of Product Announcements, Raises Nearly $30,000 for Families in Need

The P2 Oil & Gas Platform, an end-to-end solution for upstream oil and gas, highlights P2’s product releases

Wow … what an event.

This year’s ASCEND, which unfolded October 10-12 at the JW Marriott in San Antonio, had a little bit of everything.

And more than 450 upstream oil and gas professionals were on hand to take it all in. So, let’s recap, shall we …

P2 Announces the P2 Oil & Gas Platform, a Fully Integrated Solution for Upstream Oil and Gas
During the general session, P2 Chief Technology Officer Ben Wilson unveiled the P2 Oil & Gas Platform and a host of other new solutions (more on the others in a second). The P2 Oil & Gas Platform is a fully integrated data, transaction, and workflow solution that enables upstream professionals to manage every facet of their business, from the field to the back office. The release of the P2 Oil & Gas Platform comes at a time when E&Ps are focused on making enterprise-wide efficiency improvements and adjusting to what very well may be a “lower for longer” price environment. “The platform is designed to help make you more productive and successful,” Wilson told the conference crowd.

P2 Unveils P2 Reporting and P2 QuickStart, Announces Development Plans for 2 Other Solutions
Also during the general session, Wilson unveiled two other solutions (P2 Reporting and P2 QuickStart) and announced P2’s near-term plans for the development of two others (P2 Field Operator and P2 Workflow). Here’s a quick overview of each:

  • P2 Reporting unites the data from an organization’s various business domains, giving users of all types the ability to perform data discovery, create reports and dashboards, and uncover actionable insights.
  • P2 QuickStart is a software deployment and configuration standard that accelerates an E&P’s time to value and ensures that best practices are used enterprise-wide.
  • P2 Field Operator is a mobile field data capture solution that strengthens the connection between the field and the back office. Coupled with P2’s production data management, production forecasting, and operational intelligence capabilities, P2 Field Operator will serve as the foundation for pumping by exception.
  • P2 Workflow is an extensive set of predefined best-practice workflows that span the entire upstream enterprise. These workflows will help teams save time and effort on everyday tasks.

All four of these solutions will be part of the P2 Oil & Gas Platform.

P2 Announces P2 BZAlmanac, a Regularly Updated Library of Oil and Gas Production Forecasts
P2 BZAlmanac is a library of accurate, probabilistic, and unbiased oil and gas production forecasts for every well in the U.S. P2 partnered with BetaZi – creator of a physics-based predictive analytics engine – to develop P2 BZAlmanac. P2 BZAlmanac’s forecasts provide the full range of production possibilities – p10 to p90 values – and are updated every month, putting the most complete and current forecast information at users’ fingertips. Users can generate forecasts for individual wells or aggregate wells by reservoir, operator, basin, state, or county. “Having a better understanding of how wells are going to perform in the future is always going to lead to better decisions,” said Tony Sperduti, P2’s Senior Vice President of Tobin Data Solutions.

P2 Announces SAP HANA-P2 Land Integration
Through an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement signed between P2 and SAP, P2 Land is now available on the SAP HANA platform. The P2 Land-SAP HANA integration is intended to help P2’s customers simplify their operations and get more value out of their current software investments. “The adoption of our platform by complementary solution providers like P2 can help simplify our customers’ landscape,” said Ken Evans, Global Vice President of SAP’s Oil & Gas Business Unit. “With P2 Land and SAP HANA, the combination of real-time visualization, one-click data analysis, and process automation will help differentiate the land management experience. It can be a win for customers, partners, and SAP.”

P2 Employees, Customers, and Partners Donate Nearly $30,000 for the Construction of New Homes for Families in Need
As part of our social-responsibility efforts, P2 partnered with the nonprofit New Story to raise money for the construction of new homes in Haiti for families in need. Our original goal was to raise $13,600 (each home costs a little more than $6,000 to build). We invited New Story founder and CEO Brett Hagler to speak at ASCEND, and after his presentation, the donations poured in. When it was all said and done, nearly $30,000 had been donated! We can’t say thank you enough to everyone who gave. This partnership showed just how much good can be created when a group of people comes together to support a common cause. And if you’d still like to make a donation, you can do so here. Once the homes have been built, you’ll receive a video introducing you to the mother, father, and children whose lives you helped change.

P2 Customers Get Their Learning On
We want every ASCEND to provide our customers with actionable takeaways that they can start leveraging as soon as they get back to their office. And we hope the conference’s 16 training seminars, 100-plus customer-driven product sessions, Genius Bar, Solutions Studio, and Expo Hall delivered those takeaways. Speaking of the Expo Hall, a huge thank you to all of our sponsors: DocVue, Oildex, EAG Services, PDS Energy, Archeio Technologies, BetaZi, Cortex, CSE ICON, FIS, Opportune, PwC, Red Dog Systems, Rocket Software, Sirius Solutions, Trinity Management Consulting, Value Global, and Weaver. You all were fantastic!

To our customers and partners who made the trip to San Antonio, thank you! Without all of you, ASCEND simply wouldn’t exist.

Until next time!
