Attributes and Metadata

Tobin includes a robust set of attributes with selected data products. Tobin confirms and validates all attributes included from the data source. We also update and enhance these attributes and compile them into a relational database to provide our customers not only a rich attribute file, but one in which they can see relationships (one-to-one, one-to-many, or many-to-many). Attribute information is available on the feature level and is part of every layer. Data attributes can be provided in a relational data structure or in a flat file based on customer specifications.

In addition to a full range of data attributes, Tobin also includes expanding metadata files. Metadata is information about the data itself. It identifies basic information such as the data source, when it was created and by whom, when edits were made, what data changed, etc. This information is useful to determine the currency of data, if there is an alteration to the data, how it affects use, what impacts it might have, etc. Tobin has implemented metadata information with Superbase® Landgrid in shapefile format, with plans to add metadata to more output formats and products.
