Eagle Ford Shale Play Lease Activity

The Eagle Ford Shale Play bucked the trend as far as activity went in the past year. While the number of leases didn't compare to the Haynesville and Barnett, it's apparent that more companies are getting into this emerging shale play. As a whole, the area saw 20% more leasing activity between August of 2009 and January of 2010. The leasing activity focused on the southwestern part of the play.
