Barnett Shale Play Lease Activity

Leasing activity in the Barnett Shale has definitely slowed. We're taking a look at the activity for the last six months where we have data, August 2009 - January of 2010. Core counties that saw some lease activity include Denton County, Tarrant County, and Johnson County.

Comparing year over year

Looking back at the same period a year before, you can see a dramatic difference in activity. Denton, Tarrant, and Ellis counties saw the biggest drops. The only county to see more lease activity was Cooke.
