Consolidate reserves volumes, classification, status, and changes to volumes into a single repository.
P2 Decline Analysis
P2 Decline Analysis allows you to create production history databases of your oil and gas wells, analyze performance and quickly forecast reserves by decline analysis. This application significantly reduces the time you spend evaluating reserves for acquisition or annual corporate reports and gives you better results.

P2 Decline Analysis Features
- Maintain a permanent and up-to-date database of all the production history data for your company wells
- Use our integration with IHS Energy (AccuMap) and Divestco (GeoCarta or MSI Capture) mapping systems to automatically launch P2 Decline Analysis and pass the selected wells for viewing and analysis. We expect to further leverage these capabilities with additional integration with the P2 Energy Solutions family of back-office platforms including Qbyte, Enterprise Upstream, Excalibur, and Enterprise Land in the future.
- Import Westcan or Geo Webworks corporate data files that contain complete well lists, working interests, reserves estimates, and declines analysis into P2 Decline Analysis
- Use remote links to internal or external databases to automatically retrieve the most current production data (including daily field data) for your corporate wells
- Create and store your own multi-well groups for reuse within the P2 Decline Analysis database. Wells may be retrieved by well codes (location, field, pool and unit codes) as well as primary product, on-production date and by analysis status.
- Display your own customized linear, semi-log or log-log graphs of production data in imperial or metric units
- Enter a well working interest and view graphs of company net production interest for single wells or well groups
- Determine remaining reserves with best fit, or two point decline analysis techniques on screen. The best fit uses standard least square curve fitting with exponential, harmonic and hyperbolic equations.
- Generate your own multi-segment production forecasts using P2 Decline Analysis application's unique "Last Production" feature
- Use the “Sum of Forecast” option on groups graphs to roll up individual well forecasts by reserve category
- Derive oil and water production forecasts using a total fluid forecasts and liquid/liquid ratio curve such as oil cut, water cut or water-oil ratio
- Work with multiple temporary decline analysis curves for one or more series and open the limits window to view the ultimate reserves defined by each option
- View the declines and forecasts for the same series on any graph (e.g., cday oil series on the rate time or rate-cum graph)
- Save the production forecast for a production GOR, oil cut or water cut series as one of twenty user-defined reserves categories
- Use your saved production forecasts to generate a monthly production budget or to view a budget versus actual report
- Normalize production for a group of wells to a common time zero and plot average production rates
- Export production forecasts and ultimate reserves estimates to the P2 Economics economic evaluation program
- Annotate your decline curves with up to ten heading details
- Batch print graphs or reports in either color or black and white
Sources of Data
Data may be input into P2 Decline Analysis in the following ways:
- Import production data using conventional export formats from P2 Energy Solutions, IHS ENERGY (AccuMap, International Petrodata, QC Data and Dwight’s US), Divestco and geoLOGIC. In the future, look for tight integration of production data from the P2 Energy Solutions family of back-office products.
- Use GIS mapping systems to select wells for viewing and obtain the well information from transparent links to PPDM databases stored on internal computer networks
- Use the extended link capability of P2 Decline Analysis to access SCADA system data and/or daily field captured production information to view the most up-to-date production estimates
- Create a comma-delimited file of monthly production data and working interests for your wells in any spreadsheet and import it to P2 Decline Analysis
- Create wells and input monthly production data directly. Data for all wells may be edited at any time.
- Corporate SQL Server database users may wish to access their own production data. P2 Energy Solutions will work with these users to develop appropriate database links for their specific environment
Well Selection
P2 Decline Analysis contains a “Well Selection” window, shown below, that allows you to select wells from all wells in the database or any user-defined group of wells using a variety of well criteria. The selected wells may then be saved as a group in the database for current or later use. The search criteria include:
- Well field, pool unit or operator codes
- Province/State
- Primary product status
- On-production date
- Wells with temporary or permanent forecasts

User-Defined Displays
P2 Decline Analysis enables the import of raw production, injection and disposal data. From the raw data series, P2 Decline Analysis calculates approximately 60 other data series. The user may define as many as eight series to be used when displaying, printing or plotting a well graph. Each series can be assigned a color, line type and symbol type to uniquely distinguish the series. For reports, users can specify as many as 12 series.
