Shale Play Well Permits, Completions Dip

Tobin Trends - Shale Play Lease and Well Activity

Upstream oil and gas companies are completing and permitting fewer wells, as new data from P2 Energy Solutions' Tobin Map Data shows in this week's Tobin Trends post.

Tobin Trends is a weekly update on lease and well activity in three of the biggest shale plays in the country - the Haynesville Shale, the Eagle Ford Shale, and the Barnett Shale.

The reports show a sharp dip in permits for wells and completed wells. According to the data, however, well permits in the Eagle Ford continue an uneven rise.

About Tobin Map Data's Well Data

The well data is collected weekly from various state and federal regulatory agencies as well as from contracted collection companies. Tobin analysts then digitally plot the actual footage calls, verifying locations and adjusting them based on the most current satellite imagery or orthophotographic maps available. We identify actual well scars on the images to adjust the locations. All locations are also matched to SuperBase™, a continuous, high-resolution digital base map. SuperBase is used by hundreds of oil and gas companies to build custom exploration maps due to its high level of accuracy and reliability.

Companies may license the well data by state, county or other geographically defined area. Contact us for a quote today.
