Lease activity in the Barnett Shale was down almost across the entire shale play in April of this year, according to P2 Energy Solutions' Tobin Map Data.

Tarrant County, where leasing activity has been the highest, saw the number of leases filed for mineral rights in April fall almost in half over data from March.

Drilling activity in the Eagle Ford Shale counties is reflected in this year over year comparison of well permits and wells completed.

While activity remains below the levels reported in the Barnett and Haynesville, the permitting trend appears stronger in the Eagle Ford, reflecting the increased activity there for both gas and oil. Completions, however, stick with the trends in the Barnett and Haynesville.
