Excalibur Spreadsheet Interface
Excalibur Spreadsheet Interface (ESI) integrates the reporting capabilities of one of the most widely used spreadsheets, Microsoft Excel, with Excalibur's database. All you need to do is enter formulas (referred to as Excalibur financial subroutines) directly into the cells of a spreadsheet. These subroutines specify the various parameters for the data to be reported in the spreadsheet cells. The spreadsheet on your desktop is directly connected to the Excalibur database through the use of an ODBC link. Through this link, the subroutines in the spreadsheet cells make direct calls to the Excalibur database and return the specified data into the spreadsheet cells.
Once a spreadsheet is established, the user can accomplish ongoing reporting by opening the spreadsheet, changing the reporting date in the spreadsheet and retrieving the data from the Excalibur database to update the spreadsheet's information as of the specified reporting date.
In addition, users can drill down on a specific cell or group of cells to get detail accounting information based on the particular formula(s). Drill-down information automatically populates an additional tab in the spreadsheet. This tab can be renamed to preserve the results for future reference. All spreadsheet information can be updated automatically, thus eliminating the need for tedious data entry and minimizing manual adjustments that can lead to errors. ESI is fully integrated with Excalibur's General Ledger, AFE ledger, cost center ledger, property ledger and lease ledger systems.
