Excalibur Report Studio

Excalibur Report Studio (ERS) is a unique desktop application that is designed to access data directly from Rocket Software's UniData Database and stream the real-time results into Crystal Reports. It is built on the Microsoft .NET framework and incorporates functionality from Crystal Reports Developer XI and UniObjects .NET. The ERS suite of tools is deployed via windows installer and resides on the PC or can be made available in a Citrix environment.

Excalibur Report Studio eliminates much of the complexity typically required to bridge the gap between UniData and other third-party reporting tools. Furthermore, it allows the introduction of charts, graphs, trending analysis and business intelligence functions via Crystal Reports that are not inherently found inside a UniData data structure. Once the data becomes available to Crystal Reports, users can export their completed reports in a Crystal Report document, Adobe PDF, Microsoft Excel, Rich Text Format , or HTML. ERS was designed with the ability to access data without ODBC. There is no need to maintain the requirement of views associated with all ODBC usage. The easy client PC install means that there is nothing to install on your UniData server and there are no UniData administrator requirements.

Report Developer

  • The Report Developer provides users with the ability to build their own reports and distribute them based on their desired audience. Users are able to setup how and where they retrieve data for their reports and define groups that can access the data based on business intelligence levels.
  • Reports can be distributed to individual client PC’s or shared on a network file system.

Report Runtime

  • Report Runtime is used as a run-only application that provides users the opportunity to execute and export reports without fear of data manipulation. As a result, they are able to run static reports and distribute them to business units throughout the organization for their analysis. The runtime module provides the ability for use of dynamic input conditions that refine the scope of data reported upon and permits the user to designate the reports final output format for viewing by others.

Report Scheduler

  • The Report Scheduler provides the ability to schedule completed reports for unattended execution in a variety of ways. This automated process enables the users to set their own references and time frame to schedule their reports. One example is the creation of daily metrics that can be delivered to managers as executive dashboard results via HTML and hence provide quick visuals of areas requiring their attention.
