State Tax Reporting
The Excalibur State Tax Reporting system provides severance tax and other tax reporting for various states (see below). Common files and programs are shared by all reporting states providing uniformity and efficiency for setting up report-specific and property-specific tax information. The system creates data files that can be submitted to state taxing authorities either electronically, on diskette or on paper form (as appropriate) based on each state’s requirements. It also creates detailed printed reports for internal review purposes and as supporting documentation for what was filed with the state. The State Tax Reporting system is fully integrated with the Excalibur Revenue, Production and Land Lease Records systems.
Data Entry Features
- Common company tax report setup screen permits the entry of common report-specific tax information as well as the user definition of revenue components and other parameters unique to each different state report
- Common well tax information setup screen permits the association of Excalibur well data (such as well number or API reference) with state data (such as field number, lease number, or well number) and identifies which state tax reports a property is included on and excluded from
- Maintenance capabilities for state tax details include manual entries, copy function for automatic duplication of a historical detail item that you can then modify, and volume and value sign reversal
Accounting Controls and Features
- State tax detail files (used to generate specific reports) are built from Revenue system gross sales data, Production system well history detail data, and Land Lease Records system well status, location, and other general information
- Extensive data validation and error reports are generated when building detail records and additional validation when state reports are generated
- Processing options include:
- Verification only – allows you to review summary and error reports without creating the actual state tax detail records or state reports
- Generate – creates the state tax detail records or the state-specific report to be filed with the state
- Regenerate record – permits the rebuilding of previously created state tax detail records if necessary
