Enterprise Upstream Reporting Powered by BI Publisher

The classic approach to reporting is to combine the data definition, the layout and the translation. The resulting report file is often unwieldy and inflexible. Therefore, even a minor layout change requires a new report file to be created, even though the data definition is exactly the same. Additionally, if another version of a report is required at runtime in a different language, then a new report file must be created to support the new language. This approach leads to excessive time and expense in maintaining report files.

With Enterprise Upstream Reporting, powered by Oracle's BI Publisher, P2 Energy Solutions has separated the data, the layout, and the translation components, treating them as separate elements at the design state. The three components are then reconstituted at runtime, so that BI Publisher can generate the final formatted and translated output.
