History

Petroleum Place (P2), a Vista Equity Partners company, is one of the largest independent software and service providers to the oil and gas industry. It is comprised of two main business units:

P2 Energy Solutions: provides business operations software and services as well as geospatial data
The Oil & Gas Asset Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse): provides acquisition and divestiture services through a property marketplace (live online and open-outcry auction) as well as investment banking services and technical services

Over the last 10 years, P2 has grown both organically and inorganically through tactical acquisitions. In 2003, oil and gas technology providers Paradigm Technologies, Petroleum Financial Inc. and Novistar merged, creating P2 Energy Solutions. The following year, Tobin International joined and, in 2005, Qbyte was added to the P2 Energy Solutions family. Our most recent addition came in 2008, when Wellcore joined the product line.
